Nickel 625, also known as Inconel 625, is a nickel-based superalloy that possesses high strength properties and resistance to elevated temperatures. It also demonstrates remarkable protection against corrosion and oxidation.

Nickel 625, also known as Inconel 625, is a nickel-based superalloy that possesses high strength properties and resistance to elevated temperatures. It also demonstrates remarkable protection against corrosion and oxidation. Its ability to withstand high stress and a wide range of temperatures, both in and out of the water, as well as being able to resist corrosion while being exposed to highly acidic environments makes it a fitting choice for nuclear and marine applications.
In order to be considered alloy 625, an alloy must have a certain chemical composition which includes:
- Ni 58% min
- Cr 20-23%
- Fe 5% max
- Mo 8-10%
- Nb 3.15-4.15%
- Co 1% max
- Si .50 max
- P and S 0.15% max
The key features of Nickel Alloy 625 include:
- Outstanding resistance to chloride pitting and crevice corrosion cracking
- Immune to chloride ion stress corrosion cracking
- Resistant to caustics
- Resistant to seawater, in both flowing and stagnant conditions, and under fouling
